Haleridge Commercial Capital, a small-business funding service in Las Vegas, Nevada, explains what a funding request needs when buying an auto repair shop in Clark County, NV: the seller's financial records, the equipment list, parts inventory and the lease, and which funding type fits each piece. Haleridge makes no claims about shop prices.
The price of a mechanic shop in the east valley: why there is no single figure
There is no reliable published figure for Las Vegas, NV, and Haleridge does not quote one. Shop prices depend on revenue, profit, equipment, the lease and the customer base. What we can describe is how the price usually breaks down, because each part may be funded differently.
Clark County, NV had 1,007 auto repair and maintenance employer establishments in 2023, 55.2% with fewer than five employees, and ZIP 89115 alone had 46 (County Business Patterns and ZIP Code Business Patterns 2023).
The four pieces of a shop purchase
| Piece | What to collect | Usual funding |
|---|---|---|
| The business (customers, name, staff) | Seller tax returns and financial statements | Term loan plus buyer equity |
| Equipment (lifts, scan tools, compressors) | Itemized list with make, model, age | Equipment financing or included in the term loan |
| Parts inventory | A count and valuation at closing | Buyer cash, or inventory financing |
| The lease | Copy of the lease, term, renewal options, assignment terms | Not funded; but partners need it |
Seller financial records
Partners want to see what the shop earns. Ask the seller for business tax returns, profit and loss statements, and bank statements covering the same period. If the numbers do not reconcile, a partner will notice. Shop management software reports (car count, average repair order) help explain the revenue.
The equipment list
List every lift, alignment rack, tire machine, balancer, scan tool, compressor and A/C machine, with make, model and approximate age. Note which items are leased rather than owned, because leased equipment may not transfer with the sale unless the lease is assigned. Equipment that is old or near replacement affects what the business is worth and what a partner will lend against.
Small business loans for an auto repair shop purchase often pair a term loan with separate auto repair equipment financing options for any new lift or scan tool the buyer plans to add right away.
Parts inventory
Parts on the shelf are counted at closing and usually added to the price. Some may be obsolete. Agree in the purchase contract how inventory will be counted and valued, and whether obsolete stock is excluded.
The lease
The lease can matter as much as the equipment. A partner funding a purchase over several years will want to know the shop can stay for at least that long. Check the term, renewal options, rent increases, and whether the landlord must approve the assignment.
Illustration only: how the pieces might be funded
A hypothetical buyer agrees to buy an east-valley four-bay shop for $210,000 including equipment, with parts counted at closing for about $15,000. The buyer brings $50,000. A partner might consider a term loan for much of the remainder, secured partly by the equipment. The buyer pays for parts in cash. All figures are invented to illustrate the structure; they are not prices, valuations or offers.
Before you call
- Get the seller's tax returns, P&L and bank statements.
- Build the equipment list.
- Read the lease and ask about assignment.
- Know how much of your own money you are putting in.

Staff and the license to operate
A shop's value depends heavily on its technicians. Ask whether the lead technicians will stay after the sale and on what terms. Check what business licenses and registrations the shop holds, and which will need to be issued in the buyer's name; confirm with each issuing office, since that can depend on whether the address is in a city or unincorporated Clark County, NV. The permits and zoning guide explains how to check the address.
